Kingston University is seeking to recruit an archivist for the Dorich
House Museum as a result of receiving funding from AHRC. You will work
specifically on creating an electronic catalogue of sculpture, drawings,
paintings and other objects d’art from paper accession registers, research
files, archive files, condition report and object files. You will also be
responsible for the appraisal, management and conservation of an archive
of oral history tapes, letters, photographs, papers, magazines and press
cuttings relating to the Estonian sculptor Dora Gordine (1898-1991) and
the museum’s collection of Russian Imperial Art of the 19th century.
You must hold a degree in a specialist area and a recognised Postgraduate
qualification in Archives and Records Management or equivalent. In
addition you will have post qualification experience of cataloguing museum
and private collections. Familiarity with collections and records
management software and knowledge of MLA Spectrum standards will be an
advantage whilst knowledge of archival description standards and metadata
standards is essential. You will have excellent attention to detail, high
level of accuracy and the ability to work on own initiative.
