AUSTRALIAN SOCIETY OF ARCHIVISTS ANNUAL CONFERENCE,
Perth, Western Australia 7-9th August 2008
ARCHIVES: DISCOVERY AND EXPLORATION
The conference will cover the range of interpretations of discovery and
exploration about, and within, archives. International and Australian
perspectives on these topics are welcome and papers with an Indian Ocean
focus are specifically encouraged.
The following list should be seen as indicative rather than
prescriptive. Topics might include:
* Discovery and the Law
* Exploring digital records and archives
* Discovering Identity: Archives and the
revelation of self
* Exploring Convergence - Are institutions and
professions converging or diverging?
* Discovering how archives relate to changing
structures, for example Church and Missionary archives
* Exploring new means for access: the power and
transformational potential of the Internet
* Records of Discovery and Exploration, including
cartographic and geological sources
* Exploring records of climate change
* Discovering the economic and business value of
archives.
The call for papers will close on 30 November 2007. The option for
papers to be refereed for publication is being offered by the ASA
Conference for the first time. The ASA Conference 2008 Committee Chair

This conference is timed to follow the ICA Congress in Kuala Lumpur, and
the International Conference on the History of Records and Archives
(ICHORA4), Perth, Western Australia 3-5 August 2008. A call for papers
