1.1 Amendments to constitution approved
At the AGM in Nottingham on Wednesday 5 September the members approved
changes to our constitution to bring it into line with current Charity
Commission guidance, clarify our election rules and correct some
typographic errors. The amended constitution and new committee

3.1 QIA Excellence Gateway launched – gives further education staff
access to a range of high-quality guidance and information on effective
practice to help them further develop their own skills and professional
knowledge. Features include:
- Access to thousands of case studies, good practice guides and support
documents.
- Ability for further education staff to upload resources and materials
that will benefit others in the sector.
- Discussion forums.

3.2 New research report on 1:1 access to mobile learning devices
The University of Bristol is conducting research into the impact of 1:1
access to mobile learning devices at KS2 and KS4. The final reports from
the project will be available in Winter 2008. The Summer 2007 Interim

3.3 JISC infoNet Award for Innovation in Records & Information Management
Has your institution recently made significant improvements to the way
in which it manages its records or internal information? Share your
success with others and gain further recognition for your achievements
by entering the inaugural JISC infoNet Award for Innovation in Records &
Information Management, sponsored by Facet Publishing. Applications can
be submitted between 1 October and 31 December 2007. The successful
project will be announced at the JISC Conference on 15 April 2008.

4.2 CALL FOR CHAPTERS
Handbook of Research on Assessment Technologies, Methods, and
Applications in Higher Education
Editor: Dr. Christopher Schreiner, University of Guam, Guam U.S.A.
Submit by November 1, 2007 or earlier, a 2-4 page proposal clearly
explaining the mission and concerns of the proposed chapter.
Your proposal should contain 1) proposed title of your chapter, 2)
abstract of the paper, 3) relevance to the book, and 4) your brief
professional profile and contact details (including mailing and e-mail
addresses). The book is scheduled to be published by IGI Global

6.1 JISC Circular 03/07
...invites institutions to submit funding proposals for JISC/NEH
Transatlantic Digitisation Collaboration Grants. Funding of £360,000
(approximately $720,000) is available to support digitisation projects
in the humanities in the following areas:
* New digitisation projects and pilot projects;
* Addition of important material to existing digitisation projects;
* Development of infrastructure to support U.S.-English digitisation work.
Proposals may be submitted by HE institutions funded via HEFCE and by FE
institutions in England that teach HE to more than 400 FTEs.
