Hello Vic
Firstly i must say that it is a shame that you wish to be disassociated
with the Nancy Caroline sixth edition and the success it is currently
achieving.
The comments that were made by the 130 reviewers were all read by the
editorial team. I have reread your review and whilst you make some salient
points the strict parameters of overall book size for instance, prohibited
us from including some information. There is clearly an opportunity to
write a comprehensive history of pre-hospital health care, but it was not
possible to include this in the sixth edition.
The whole concept of the sixth edition was to release a contemporary text
that was written by paramedics, for paramedics. The professional body also
underwrote this concept and is content that whilst literary awards may not
be gained, the profession has taken a huge leap forward and has become
stronger for its association with the Nancy Caroline project. All authors
( who worked voluntarily) should be very proud of their contribution and i
personally would seek to support their efforts and their desire to slowly
advance our profession.
I appreciate that you made many points and i am happy to discuss these
with you either on the phone or by email if you so wish.
