The Librarians’ Community of Practice is in the process of finalising the
staff development programme for 2007-8. Further details on these events
will be available nearer the time, but as an aid to planning, we're giving
some early warning of the themes and dates.
30 October 2007
Theme: Inclusive Customer Service
Target Audience: Library Assistants
A practical and interactive event aimed at front-line staff, covering
customer service in its broadest sense and taking in issues of equality,
diversity and inclusion.
24 January 2008
Theme: Libraries and Learning Spaces
Target Audience: College library and learning resources staff
It has been two years since our highly successful event on Learning
Spaces, but the topic is still a top concern for library and learning
resources staff, as highlighted by the recent SCONUL survey. This event
will revisit the impact of new builds on the learning experience.
13 March 2008: Annual Joint Conference
Theme: Quality
Target Audience: College Library, ICT and MIS staff
Building on the success of last year’s conference, which brought together
library, ICT and MIS staff from across Scotland’s Colleges, we will once
again hold a joint event on the topic of Quality. Views from the Funding
Council, HMIe, College staff and students will combine to stimulate debate
and encourage changes in practice. This year the programme will be even
more closely linked to library agendas and will include discussion on the
revised SLIC self evaluation framework.
Detailed programmes and delegate fees for these events will be circulated
closer to the dates and can be downloaded from the SFEU web site
(www.sfeu.ac.uk).
Early expressions of interest can be made to SFEU’s conferencing
department on 01786 892054.
