World Poverty, Global Justice & Public Health: 
A Conference with Thomas Pogge

11th and 12th September 2007 – Dublin, Ireland

Professor Thomas Pogge (Professor of Political Science at Columbia
University and Professorial Fellow at the Centre for Applied Philosophy
and Public Ethics, Australian National University), a scholar in the
field of global justice and world poverty, is scheduled to visit Dublin
on 11th and 12th September.

To coincide with Prof. Pogge's visit, the Association for Legal and
Social Philosophy (ALSP), with support from the TCD Department of
Philosophy, UCD School of Social Justice, UCD School of Politics and
International Relations, and the Royal Irish Academy, are organising
several public events that will be of interest to academics and
practitioners working in the fields of global justice, development
studies, and global health care.

All events are free and open to the public. Please note some events have
limited places and early registration is advised. Please RSVP to

Academic Seminar: “Pharmaceutical Innovation: Must We Exclude the Poor?"
Room 5012, Arts Building, Trinity College Dublin (College Green, Dublin 2) 

A philosophy research seminar focusing on an essay by Prof. Pogge.
Places are limited.

Public Lecture: “World Poverty: Causes & Responsibilities"
Academy House, Royal Irish Academy (19 Dawson Street, Dublin 2)

Prof. Thomas Pogge will deliver a public lecture, followed by an invited
commentary from Prof. Chris Bertram (University of Bristol) and a
question-and-answer session with the audience.

12th September 2007, 3pm – 6pm
Roundtable Discussion: “Global Health and Access to Essential Medicines”
Academy House, Royal Irish Academy (19 Dawson Street, Dublin 2)

Academics and practitioners working in the field of global health care
will deliver short presentations, followed by a discussion with the
audience. Confirmed participants include: Prof. Thomas Pogge, Dr. Devi
Sridhar (Research Director of the Global Health Programme, Oxford
University), and Dr Diarmuid McClean (Development Specialist at Irish
Aid, Department of Foreign Affairs, Government of Ireland).

Participants are cordially invited to a reception at 6-7pm in Academy
House.
