autoctonous:
Originating where found; indigenous: autochthonous rocks; an autochthonous
people; autochthonous folktales
That's it, I was suggesting that Simic's work is autochthonous -
unchangingly, faithful to its formal origins.
This might be unfair because I stopped reading Simic some decades back for
the most part. Except for his book on Joseph Cornell - which I found
engaging, but not top of the rock.
SF MOMA will have a huge Cornell show - a whole floor - next month, a
traveling show from Salem, Mass - which I hear from folks back there is a
terrific one. Impatient for that.
