So here I am back & trolling through a huge bunch of posts, but yeah, I
like this too, & seem to recall that Northrup Frye (whom I don't always
agree with) made much the same point, more academically of course, & in
reverse. That sincerity in the writer does not always translate into
sincerity in the writing....
Or, rather, that the true sincerity for the artist lies in the art, not
the feeling which engenders it....
