Hi,
Work out how much it would ACTUALLY cost them to use your time to do it - then get some prices yourself for them (companies like ours work out well cheaper!!) The perception does tend to be that its cheaper in house when in reality it really may not be!
Worth a try!
As far as it being a resignation issue - look at how robust the policy is first and perhaps coach them about what they THINK they want against what they actually NEED?? (That might reduce costs for them too) If the policy is a nightmare then there are loads of good ones about and maybe they will change it? If your employees are in a safety critical environment then they really ought to be tested however if they are not then what is the rationale? Good Luck!

Jane

Subject: [OCC-HEALTH] Drug & Alcohol Testing in the workplace
Hi Folks,
need a bit of support here.
My organisation wants to bring in drug & alcohol testing & I have
reservations. Initially it was to be handled by an outside company leaving
the OH service to remain impartial and free to deal with the fall out &
supporting employees. Now the organisation in their penny pinching wisdom
have said they want it be carried out in house (to save money). I am
against this and feel so strongly that if pushed I will resign. What I am
really looking for is the ethical side & guidance to stop us turning into
the 'Drug & Alchol police' which is highly likeley. Can anyone help?
