In his article on the Kingswood Coalfield (part 2) in the BIAS Journal Matt
Southway wrote
".... One could go on reporting these smaller workings ad infinitum and ad
nauseam, but there were larger pits at Cromhall, Rangeworthy, Wapley and
Yate which we have deliberately excluded, as they are being actively
researched by David Bick, of the Gloucestershire Society for Industrial
Archaeology, who has been .most helpful. . "
David was most helpful to me when I was researching the Cromhall Collieries
and even sent my photocopies of pages from his notes.
I recently came across a letter he sent to me indicating that he would also
hunt out some information on lead mines in Tortworth but sadly either he
didn't find the details or didn't get to send it before he died.
This letter and the comment in the article made me wonder what happened to
David's notes? Does anyone know?
Regards
David
