Dear All
A warm invitation to join the BERA-TEACHER-RESEARCHER JISCmail e-seminar for September here:
http://www.jiscmail.ac.uk/cgi-bin/webadmin?SUBED1=bera-teacher-researcher&A=1
Later this week I will be circulating details to BERAmail, CARN and AERA's mentoring and coaching
SIG who have expressed interest - as well as to other mentoring and coaching (on-line) networks.
This is the posting about the e-seminar I have posted to the BERA-TEACHER-RESEARCHER JISClist
which I hope you will find useful too - any advice and ideas about refining 4 threads appreciated!
Posting reads -
As you know, there is to be an e-seminar on research mentoring during the month of September
on this list. I am very much looking forward to the discussion and hope we will share ideas and
learn from the interactions. With luck, there will be great deal of email exchanged in the month
but if this is problematic for you or if you are going on leave and want to avoid flooding an email
account please just alter a setting to 'nomail' from the next to last button in MISCELLANEOUS in a
page linked below (don't leave our list..!) and please do not write to the list asking to be removed.

If you would like advice or assistance in posting to an e-seminar, please write to me off the list at
[log in to unmask] As the focus for discussion is Research Mentoring throughout September
it would be appreciated if you could post/respond to threads in the discussion - not just add new.
Within a theme of mentoring (and coaching) to support teacher research in educational contexts, I
am considering 4 separate threads. This has been my thinking so far ... do these 4 seem useful?
* What research mentoring and coaching (as distinct from tutoring) do teachers currently receive?
* What kinds of mentoring and coaching do they most appreciate at particular points in research?
* What resources (including face to face meeting, on-line and multi media) enable their research?
* What kind of resources and support for research mentors and coaches would be useful in future?
Looking forward to hearing from you,
Sarah
PS September is an exciting time for furthering understanding about research mentoring/coaching
with a workshop on using multi media in research mentoring at the BERA Conference 6 September
a symposium (also at the BERA Conference) on 'generative' potential in research mentoring (8th) +
our Educational Research Mentoring conference at the Holiday Inn, Milton Keynes 29th September
