Faculty of Media Arts & Society
£26,094 - £40,204 per annum
The School of Media has recently undergone significant growth in its
curriculum provision, particularly in the areas of television
production. There are currently plans to extend our provision at both
undergraduate and postgraduate levels over the next two years. An
academic with a good understanding of debates and issues in the field
of television studies and, more generally, in media studies is
required to contribute to undergraduate teaching on our successful
Film & Television and Media Culture and Production degree programmes.
You will have a good first degree, a higher degree in a relevant field
and ideally a completed or near completed PhD. You will also have
experience of teaching and administration within higher education and
must be able to deliver and assess units to a high standard and to a
large student body. A developing research profile is desirable. In
addition to being able to lead, develop and teach academic units on TV
and media, you should offer two or more specialisms from the following
areas: history of television, the workings of the television industry,
TV drama, contemporary British TV, globalisation and the media, genre,
and gender, representation and TV. The ability to work effectively in
a team and on your own initiative is essential. Experience of
curriculum design and course administration would be advantageous.
