Hi Nick,
While these projects have stemmed from an individual Hub need, I agree
that much of the work will be applicable to the wider sector. Outputs
from both projects include a practical methodology to enable the Hub to
take it forward in the future, so naturally we could share this.
I may be pre-empting the results of the research, but I suspect that
many of the issues and challenges we face in these areas at the London
Hub will be similar to other organisations around the UK. So, I'd expect
that any resulting methodology would be capable of wider application
without too much additional tweaking. We'll have to wait and see...
All the best,
Dylan

Subject: Re: Invitation to tender - online audience research and web
statistics
Dear Dylan,
There is a UK-wide need for both of these. Any chance they could be
generalised, or at least the results published on completion?
My sense is that the statistics methodology in particular could easily
be
made more generally applicable beyond the Hub.
All best,
Nick

Subject: Invitation to tender - online audience research and web
statistics
*** Apologies for cross-posting ***
Dear all,
The London Museums Hub is inviting tenders for two pieces of consultancy
work:
Online audience research
This project aims to provide a more complete understanding of the London
Hub's online audiences, and the relationship between online and physical
use of the Hub museums. The project will involve analysis of previous
research carried out by the Hub partners, along with new research
specifically for this project. The outputs of the project will include a
report detailing findings and recommendations, along with a practical
methodology to enable the Hub to take this forward over the longer-term.
A more detailed brief is available here:

rief.doc
Developing a common methodology for recording and using web statistics
This project aims to produce a common methodology for recording and
using a range of web usage statistics across the Hub. The project will
involve research into how each of the Hub partners currently collects
and uses data (both for KPI reporting purposes and to inform web
development), and will also take into account wider developments in this
field. The outputs of the project will include a workable methodology
for collecting and using this information in the future.
A more detailed brief is available here:
http://www.mlalondon.org.uk/uploads/documents/Web_statistics_brief.doc
Tenders for both projects must be received by the 14 September 2007, and
successful applicants will be notified by the 28 September. If you would
like more information about either of the consultancies, please get in
touch.
Best regards,
Dylan
