We are looking into the possibility of setting up an online payment facility for library fines by credit / debit card on our web site, and I'm wondering if anyone uses such a facility or has helped to set one up. I'd be interested to hear how easy it was to introduce, and how it works, e.g. do fines get automatically taken off the library computer system once paid, or do staff get notified by email and have to do this manually? Does anyone use a service such as PayPal and if so, does the additional transaction cost get transferred to the user or is this covered by yourselves?
