It's the spirit of the age.
The GMC used to rattle on about how important it was that doctors
should be upright honest characters, so that their word could be
trusted implicitly. That was the justification for coming down on us
like a ton of bricks for the slightest deviation from the straight and
narrow.
But it seems that doctors are not to be trusted, even so. If we are
not to benefit from the gain of trust, why should we suffer the pain
of GMC scrutiny? Let us drive at speed, watch pornography and tell
porkies like the rest of the great and good.
