Possible contributory factors:
Drs.net forum
Other email groups such as the Electronic Emis User Group or local
and regional LMC type email groups which many GP-UK members also belong to
The wish of many people who rant for that not to be visible to their
patients or PCT, the press and the public in general
The recent intervention of a GPC member which seemed to suggest you
needed insurance to be able to discuss medico-political and medico-legal issues
The very sensible instincts of prioritization and self-preservation
which lead many people to go and enjoy themselves / play sport / read
a book rather than composing somewhat angry emails.
The tendency of GP-UK at times (not always) to be GP computing international
The death of General Practice (though not, to be fair, primary care) in the UK.
I'm not sure but how many regular contributors are left who are
genuinely full time UK GPs? Adrian? A very small handful?
(For the avoidance of doubt I'd accept anyone who does >150 face to
face consultations per week at lest 44 weeks per year as full time)
That doesn't mean GP UK should shut up shop. It remains an open
channel, international, multi-disciplinary and public, and even if it
was only used once a year that might still be of great value.
Thanks to all who do keep it going.
