GIS research specialist - London - Permanent - £40K + Bonus - Start ASAP
Core responsibilities
• Production of high quality hard copy and electronic bespoke products (for
research reports and presentations)
• Strategic planning for GIS development within department
• GIS application development - developing desktop and web GIS
applications - .Net and VBA environment
• Provide expert advice and information regarding GIS and data analysis
especially with property market research
• Acquisition of data and creation of new themes
• Liaison with customers and the ability work with numerous geospatial
digital formats Additional responsibilities
• Production of drive-time analysis, threshold analysis, geodata modelling
and forecasting and data management
• Maintain assistance with client (and in-house) presentations both visual
and written material
• Feedback observations and ideas to the research team to improve range of
products & services
• Other tasks as directed by the immediate line manager
Skills, experience and qualifications
• 3 years + direct GIS experience (housing research skills helpful)
• High-level expertise with ArcGIS suite - ArcGIS 9.0 (or above), ArcIMS,
ArcInfo and additional extensions
• Knowledge of Insight 7.0
• Good experience skills with Microsoft Office specifically word-
processing, spreadsheet and presentation packages
• GIS educational and/or research background (or equivalent)
• Good database skills (queries) - SQL and Access
• Good interpersonal & communication skills
• Clear & logical thinking with well developed report writing skills

• Small team required to deliver workload to tight deadlines means that
ability to get on with colleagues and be flexible towards workload is as
important as technical skills & experience
• Increasingly demanding clients (both internal and external) creates need
for continuing development of research services and innovative solutions to
client requirements

service

• Contact with external professional bodies relevant to own professional
discipline, e.g. SPR or RICS
