Hi Alan
I work at the RA and, as you say, the Victorian life room is still in
use as part of the RA Schools. It's used by students and staff but also
hosts life classes for other groups like the New English Art club.
More generally, there's a lot of information on - and images of - life
drawing from the c18th to c20th in the UK in the two catalogues from the
exhibition 'The Artist's Model' (Vol 1 from Lely to Etty and Vol 2 from
Etty to Spencer) by Martin Postle and others.
Hope this helps and do let me know if you're like any more specific
information on the RA room.

Subject: Historical life drawing studios[Scanned]
I'm trying to do a bit of research on the history of
life drawing and am interested in places/ studios
where it would have been practised and/or taught,
especially ones which are still operational. The most
obvious example would be the Royal Academy Schools in
London.
Could anyone recommend others of historical interest
especially in Europe or North America? And does anyone
have experience of working in them?
Thanks
Alan McGowan
