Dear all,
the Competence Centre for Interoperable Metadata (KIM) has translated the
current version of the DCMES 1.1 (NISO Standard Z 39.85-2007) in German [1].
KIM [2] is a project funded by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) [3]
and led by the Goettingen State and University Library [4] in co-operation
with the German National Library [5].
Since 2007, KIM has been building up a core group of experts in Germany,
Austria, and Switzerland to support the interoperability of information and
data repositories in the German-speaking area on the basis of international
metadata standards.
KIM is currently developing tutorials, guidelines and translations of key
standards documents. In this context DCMES 1.1 has been translated by a group
of metadata experts from the Goettingen State and University Library and the
German National Library, building on results of former German translation
efforts and incorporating the latest changes in the Dublin Core standards. In
July 2007 the first draft of this translation was finalized and the
German-speaking metadata community was invited to comment on this draft.
Based on this comments the expert group has revised the translation. The
document is now available at:
