I think this is an X11 problem.
Do you have the file
/usr/X11R6/lib/libXxf86vm.1.dylib
I do. It symbolically links to /usr/X11R6/lib/libXxf86vm.1.0.dylib
It is installed with version 1.1.3 X11.app or the accompanying X11 SDK
that you get with the developer tools.

Occasionally the installer misses stuff. There is a shell script, linked
on that page, that will check and report if anything is missing.
10.4.10 is the more up to date version.
