Deadline: 31 August 2007
ABB is seeking a strong post doctoral candidate to join its R&D team in Oslo to work on Pervasive Computing for future Oil and Gas Facilities.
The focus of this work is on using wireless communication technologies to develop intelligent interactive environments for future Oil & Gas installations. The work is primarily focused on innovative and novel applications for the industry, and the development of ideas and prototypes for the "Field of the Future". Creativity and enthusiasm is highly valued.
A consortium consisting of ABB, IBM, Aker Kværner and SKF has been awarded a contract for R&D cooperation with Statoil to develop concepts for safe and cost-effective operations of Oil & Gas facilities. The increasing demand for energy has challenged the industry to find ways to extend the lifetime of Oil & Gas fields. The "TAIL - Integrated Operations" project aims to solve a wide range of challenges that the industry faces related to lifetime extension of the offshore fields.
You will be given the opportunity to work in an integrated international project team with highly skilled personnel from five technology leaders. It will also be possible to be located in one or more of the partners R&D sites.
The Post Doc is a 2 year engagement funded by the Petromaks program and is placed at code 1352 and will be remunerated according to wage levels 52 to
74 on the Norwegian State Salary scale, with a gross salary from NOK 365 000 to NOK 548 000 per year. Post Docs are normally remunerated at wage level 52, NOK 365 000 per year.
For well qualified candidates, terms are open for adjustments. The position is located in Oslo.
After the two year engagement, the candidates will be in a strong position for permanent positions in the five companies (ABB, SKF, AkerKværner, Statoil, IBM), in Norway or internationally. However, this will be based on performance and actual needs in the companies.
For more information about the position or about the project please contact Dr Paula Doyle ([log in to unmask]).
To apply for this position, please send an electronic copy of your CV together with a covering letter to Paula Doyle at the email address above.
