Progression - What are the issues?
This seminar is FREE
Learner progression is a hot topic, but does policy support effective
practice? What does the research say?
Date: Wednesday 17th October 2007
Time: 9.30am - 3.00pm
Venue: Harris Park Conference Centre; 253 Garstang Road, Fulwood,
Preston PR2 9XB
The Department for Innovation, Universities and Skills (DIUS) will
attend the seminar and present the DIUS strategy, outlining current
policy on progression. The North West Skills for Life Research Forum
(NWSfLRF) will present research from several NRDC projects that have
looked at progress and progression from the learners' perspective.
Together these will support a discussion on progression in practice.
It will be of interest to those working in literacy, language and
numeracy provision who are responsible for planning, funding, managing,
teaching and researching post-16 provision. Participation is invited
from the FE sector including voluntary and community organisations,
adult and community learning, museum and libraries, TUC, employers, work
based providers, offender learning and skills, further education
colleges and LSC.
This seminar will provide an opportunity to:
* Find out about the national strategy on progression
* Find out about current research on progression and persistence
* Share effective practice and find out about resources
