Applications are invited for a
W1 Junior Professorship in “Environmental
Archaeology”
at the Institute of Prehistoric and Protohistoric Archaeology
of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities of Christian-
Albrechts-University of Kiel
The W1 Junior Professor will initially be appointed for 3
years („Beamtenverhältnis auf Zeit“).
As the professorship is part of the graduate training
initiative "Human development in Landscapes", its research
and teaching concepts must be in agreement with its
themes.
The applicant must show excellent qualifications in
Palaeobotany and, within the frame of research in “Human
Development in Landscapes”, in the interrelations between
environment and societies.
The applicant is expected to be ready to take part in
interdisciplinary collaborations and teaching regarding the
topic specified above (see http://www.uni
kiel.de/wissenschaft/). She/He is expected to offer courses
and training at the doctorate level within the frame of the
Graduate School as well as at the Bachelor and Master
levels
The applicant must have completed continuous, swift, and
excellent doctoral studies and have published in high-
ranking international journals.
After the initial period of 3 years, the assistant
professorship will be extended, after review, for an
additional period of three years. This is a tenure track
assistant professorship, as promotion to a W2 (permanent)
professorship is possible after further review once the initial
employment period and its renewal have ended.
The CAU would like to increase the proportion of these new
