CCSR Short Courses
Spatial Regression Analysis
Date: 19-23/11/2007
Duration: 5 days
Level: 2
Course Fee:
£525 attendees from non-academic institutions
£350 attendees from academic institutions
£200 postgraduate research students
Course Leader: Paul Voss, University of Wisconsin
Course Requirements:
Familiarity with standard multiple regression is expected. Some acquaintance
with the course software of ArcGIS and GeoDa for exploratory spatial data
analysis is helpful but not a pre-requisite.
The course will introduce spatial data analysis of geo-referenced data,
spatial auto-correlation, spatial heterogeneity and spatial dependence. A
focus on spatial auto-correlation extends ordinary multiple regression to
methods of spatial regression. This course is hands-on: afternoons will be
computer sessions based on morning theory lectures. The computer sessions
will use UK and European datasets.
The intended audience is all those wishing to effectively incorporate
spatial analysis into their own empirical research.
