Research Assistant/Fellow in Biostatistics
Biostatistics Unit
Centre for Epidemiology & Biostatistics
Leeds Institute of Genetics, Health and Therapeutics
Faculty of Medicine and Health
This post is available immediately for a fixed term of three years and offers an opportunity to research aspects of statistical modelling of missing data and performance indicators in an extensive national study of acute coronary syndromes (ACS). This pioneering work is funded by a major grant from the British Heart Foundation and will contribute to the ongoing focuses of the Academic Unit of Cardiovascular Medicine and the Biostatistics Unit by studying complex data on cardiovascular disease in the context of observational studies, where data missingness occurs.
Using the dataset, the research will:
1) Explore the impact of various imputation methods
2) Develop imputation methods appropriate to the dataset
3) Study established ACS performance indicators
4) Develop contemporary case-mix adjusted performance indicators
5) Explore models of cardiovascular disease
With a minimum first degree in mathematics/statistics, you will also have computational skills, specifically in a range of statistical software packages such as R, Stata, and WinBUGS. Experience in the mathematical/statistical modelling of large and complex biomedical observational data is desirable. A PhD or equivalent and an existing publication record in this area are desirable for Research Assistant and essential for Research Fellow.
University Grade 6 (£22,332 - £26,666 p.a.) or 7 (£27, 466 - £32,796 p.a.) depending on qualifications and relevant experience.
