The winding arrangement described in the Coroner's case at the iron pits
at Newbold were not unique. I know of two or three other such sets
around Chesterfield, and they all appeared to operate on the "all at the
same time" principle.

Common Ironstone Pit accident of 1865 from Bulletin 11-5. This winder
wound from 14 shafts at once, and part of the apparatus fell off.. There
is a drawing by Arthur Stokes of the engine.
