Dear all
Kate Amis at the RGS has asked me to circulate this around the grouup -
if anyone would be interested in helping, please let her know - sounds
really interesting, but I'm afraid I'm likely to be teaching then.
Nicola.
----
I run the geography ambassador project here at the RGS - IBG and am
planning an event for a group of young female geographers from Essex on
Tues 25th September. The teacher and I would like to organise a lecture
and a workshop around a geog and gender theme. The girls are from a
mixed school, all are v keen geographers and many have ambitions to go
on and study it at HE level. They are A level age. So far they haven't
really studied or discussed in any detail specifically the role of women
in global issues. I thought it would be a good opportunity to introduce
them to gender geog and perhaps for us to develop some materials that we
could use in the future for similar workshops based in schools and sixth
forms.
I was wondering if you would be interested in helping me in some way
with this - I am keen to find somebody asap to deliver the lecture part
of the day - a lecture for about 45 mins would be ideal. I have booked
space - 2 rooms here at the Rgs and will be booking some energetic
female ambassadors from a range of London based HEIs to assist with the
day. (The pupils are here from 10.30 till 2.30pm on the day ).Any ideas
for themes, activities or lecturers gratefully received Many thanks Kate
