I just sent the e-mail below, but got a bounce back from gp-uk, saying that my
message had a virus in it. I've checked the sent message, and, as far as I can
tell, there is no virus attached to the plain text e-mail, so I'll try sending
it again.
-----------------------
I just received this message below. The spammers seem to be getting a lot
cleverer (and now seem to be able to spell!) - I am sure everyone has received
many copies of the "Your friend has sent you an e-postcard" message, and this
message will similarly have tricked many into clicking onto the URL.
And I wonder how many e-banking users have been tricked into entering phishing
sites - I currently receive around 5 messages per day asking me to update the
details of my bank (RBOS).
All this is worrying when the average level of IT expertise in Internet users is
probably on the decrease as more and more inexperienced users get on-line. This
will affect us all on the Internet, as compromised PCs from the above sort of
messages will lead to increased spam and fraudulent net activity.
Worrying...
