Dear Dave,
With heaviest rainfall for forty years attendance on Friday of the four day event was inevitably low and much extra expenditure incurred on Saturday and Sunday to cope with flooding, mud etc.
What appears vital for the economic survival of the event is to increase the number of attendees able to reach the site without unacceptable queueing on good days to compensate for inevitable low numbers on bad days - rain, excessive heat etc.
I'm hoping you or one of your colleagues may be able to point me in the right direction to assess the maximum hourly number of vehicles that can reach our site in an hour given the local road network and the maximum hourly number that can be expected to make right angle turns from a lane into a field.
My role at the event was as a courtesy car drive ferrying people between the Art in Action site and bus stops in Wheatley and the Thornhill Park & Ride. Regrettably use of public transport which I'd like to see encouraged and the courtesy car service was impeded on the busy Thursday by traffic congestion on approach roads.
Is there a good reference book about road traffic flow I might borrow from a library?
