I'm not actually sure whether pre-processing would need to be repeated. I've
never worked with AFNI datasets, but the idea of NIFTI is that the data
should be much more interchangeable. It is possible that there is a tool
within the AFNI package that could be used for the conversion to NIFTI. In
principle, it could have been set up to write out images in NIFTI format.
