Dear colleague,
We are very pleased to invite you to this event, being held to mark the
launch of ‘The Social Market and its Enemies’ by Lord Lipsey, Chair of the
Social Market Foundation. The event will take place at the offices of the
Social Market Foundation in Tufton Street.
Lord Lipsey and Philip Collins, former director of the SMF and former
speechwriter to Tony Blair, will discuss some of the themes in the paper
as they relate to the new administration. The Social Market and Its
Enemies traces the evolution of the social market model since Robert
Skidelsky’s seminal 1998 essay, challenges those who believe the social
market inevitably leads to uncontrolled inequality of incomes and examines
the role of market mechanisms in the great debate of the 21st century,
climate change. The discussion will be mediated by Daniel Franklin,
Executive Editor, the Economist, and a member of the SMF's Policy Advisory
Board.
We very much hope you will be able to join us for what will be a
stimulating and lively debate. If you can, or would like to send a
colleague in your place, please contact Myriam Ben Ammar on
[log in to unmask] or call 020 7227 4412.
