'Cerebral, not stuffy' The Times
I just don't get this weather. It's always too hot, not hot enough, or
raining. Lucky for us, constancy is provided by Salt Margins, back again in
the East End's finest gallery for a spot of poetical shindiggery. This month
acclaimed younger poet LUKE KENNARD reads from his latest collection The
Harbour Beyond The Movie (Salt Publishing). Ian McMillan - he off the telly
- reckons he's 'a truly 21st-century writer, unafraid of barriers and
conventions'. We agree, and also point out that Luke's favourite canape is
the cocktail sausage roll.
Joining Luke, novelist and Lazy Gramaphonite ADAM GREEN, who will be reading
from his surreal coming-of-age tale Satsuma Sun-Mover. LAURA FORMAN,
recently back from a fourteen-date national tour with Generation Txt, will
read poems covering topics as diverse as Battersea Power Station and Bon
Jovi. Yes, Bon Jovi. And finally, a flourish of music with THE EX-MEN, the
Glasgow-based duo who fuse spoken word with electronica ('Underworld after
six pints of mild' The Times).
Salt Margins is produced by Penned in the Margins in association with Salt
Publishing.
