This is to invite you to register for all or part of this two day
conference hosted by the Disaster and Development Centre (DDC), School
of Applied Sciences, Northumbria University. The annual Dealing with
Disasters conference series is organised by Northumbria, Teesside and
Glamorgan Universities. We are sure that you will find it to be a
worthwhile, interesting and informative event.
In an era when increasing numbers of disasters are recognised the world
over and we strive for improved and sustainable wellbeing, the
university sector faces a very particular challenge in ensuring it makes
an effective contribution to disaster reduction. Education for the
prevention of and response to major disasters and for the achievement of
more sustainable development presents an exciting challenge; demanding
expertise from many different disciplines. This year's event which
includes strands on resilience, response and investigation comprises
keynote sessions and parallel workshops with participation of senior
governmental, private and academic representatives internationally and
from the UK.
A programme for the event with attendance application form can be
located at www.northumbria.ac.uk/ddc
