Dear all
I thought you might be interested to see the second iteration of the museum
directory I put together at the Museums on the Web "Mashed Museum" day.
The mashup day was entirely about experimentation, using 3rd party data
sources, rapid build, etc - so disclaimers apply. It isn't accessible,
hugely thought about, complete, as good as it could be, or tested with any
audiences. So stay calm if your museum isn't on there, has the wrong name or
is apparently located in the middle of the sea...
What it hopefully *does do* is illustrate that stuff can be built quickly
(original version took 7 hours including data munging; this version took an
additional 4 hours, again mainly postcode lookups and other data cleaning).
It also uses three simple and free API's (Google Maps, Flickr and Yahoo!
search) to see if these add anything to a simple directory listing.

I've got a range of ideas for version 3 which I'll post about when I get
time to do some more work on this.
Let me know off-list or via the blog comments if you've got any feedback.
Please, only about the idea and NOT about the data!
Cheers
Mike Ellis
