Outreach Librarian.
£22,934 - £26,899 per annum inclusive of London Weighting.
Full-time, permanent.
A vacancy has arisen for an Outreach Librarian based at the Royal Free
Hospital Medical Library in Hampstead, part of UCL Library Services. The
postholder's chief responsibility is to assist the Information Support
Services team to develop and expand existing services. A substantial part of
the role involves supporting the development and delivery of Library
resources and services to staff in the field of mental health and primary
care, and to staff of the Royal Free Hampstead NHS Trust. The postholder
also supports the provision of electronic resources and services to the NHS
users served by the Library. The postholder deputises for the Reader
Services Librarian, as required, in areas relating specifically to issue
desk supervision, and is expected to contribute to project work.
The successful applicant will be a professionally qualified graduate
librarian, with up-to-date, relevant experience of library/information work,
including enquiry and advisory work. Experience of providing a high level of
user focused customer services is essential, as are demonstrable skills in
finding, evaluating and using information, from both printed and electronic
sources, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and experience in
giving presentations. Relevant subject knowledge or experience of working in
a health or medical environment, plus experience of supervising staff, and
preparing/delivering training would be an advantage.
