To all folk with a remit to support researchers.
------------------------------------------------
Share my joy! I have just been appointed to the brand new role
of ‘Research Support Specialist’ here at the University of Northampton.
There are two parts to my role:
1. To support the information needs of researchers across the
institution (including research students, research active staff and others
involved in applied research initiatives e.g. KTPs and consultancies)
2. To coordinate and manage practitioner research within Information
Services (a converged library and IT department)
Does anybody else out there have a similar role? Or are you responsible
for research support as part of your role?
I’d love to hear your ideas for supporting researchers – what has worked
for you and what has been a waste of time? I’ve got a great opportunity
here to make a difference so it would be really helpful to have some
advice from the experts.
Feel free to reply on or off list – I’ll summarise for the list in the
fullness of time.
Many thanks
Miggie Pickton
