Wiley Extends Publishing Partnership with the
American Institute of Chemical Engineers

Hoboken, N.J., July 10, 2007—Global publisher John Wiley &
Sons, Inc. (NYSE: JWa), (NYSE: JWb), and the American
Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE) today announced the
renewal and extension of their agreement for publication of
the Institute’s flagship journals, AIChE Journal,
Environmental Progress, and Process Safety Progress. The
renewed agreement extends the AIChE-Wiley publishing
partnership through 2017. The original agreement was signed
in 2003.

“AIChE enthusiastically supports the extension of our
partnership with Wiley,” said Stephen Smith, AIChE’s
Director of Technical Activities and Publications. “Our
members have been very happy with the improved timeliness
and impact of our publications.” He added, “Working with
Wiley, we’ve launched initiatives that would have been
difficult for us, as a small society publisher, to
accomplish on our own. We have enhanced online features and
a complete digital archive—all accompanied by stronger
financial performance.”

“We’re thrilled to be able to extend a partnership that has
been and continues to be successful on so many levels,”
said Jon Glover, Wiley Associate Publisher, Physical
Sciences Journals. “We look forward to continuing our
partnership with AIChE in the publication and dissemination
of essential research in chemical engineering. As Wiley
celebrates its 200th anniversary, we’re glad to have the
opportunity to help AIChE celebrate their 100th year in
2008 as the leading membership organization for chemical
engineering professionals.”

AIChE Journal, now in its 53rd year of publication, is one
of the premier research journals in chemical engineering
and related fields. The journal is ranked in the top 10 in
the Chemical Engineering category of the Journal Citation
Reports™ (Institute for Scientific Information). Edited by
Stanley Sandler of the University of Delaware, this peer-
reviewed monthly journal reports the latest technological
advances in chemical engineering, as well as other relevant
engineering disciplines, including biotechnology,
electrochemical engineering, and environmental engineering.

The quarterly publication Environmental Progress provides
practical, industrially relevant coverage of advances vital
to engineering professionals dealing with environmental
issues. Now edited by Martin Abraham of the University of
Toledo, it addresses environmental management; wastewater;
pollution minimization, control, and remediation;
sustainability; and environmental software, literature, and
regulation.

Process Safety Progress offers practical process safety
information, covering such areas as chemical and
hydrocarbon process safety, loss prevention, and health.
Dan Crowl of Michigan Technical University and Joseph
Louvar of Wayne State University serve as co-editors.

Wiley and AIChE also signed a separate agreement in March
2005 to jointly publish books in chemical engineering and
industrial chemistry under a new, co-branded imprint. Under
the agreement, Wiley and AIChE co-publishes 10-15 books a
year in the broad field of chemical engineering, including
books in process safety and emerging technological areas
like biological engineering and sustainability.
