Dear All
The annual report of the CMO in England has now been published
The Chief Medical Officer's Annual Report 2006 draws attention to major health challenges requiring immediate action and details progress made in key areas identified in previous annual reports.
The report highlights the need for improved hand hygiene by healthcare professionals to reduce the rate of healthcare-associated infection. It also draws attention to the need to increase number of donor organs available for transplantation and the need to reduce the number of errors occurring during radiotherapy treatment. Additionally, it addresses concerns about the number of babies who die every year as a result of intrapartum-related causes, and the obstacles facing women doctors in fulfilling their potential.
