Dear Colleagues,
The second phase of the Senate House Library refurbishment programme will
start Monday 6 August. This will involve temporarily re-locating the
entrance to the Library to the North Block of Senate House and moving some
of the collections. The refurbishment is necessary to allow for library
space to be rewired and redecorated, with the shelving respaced to become
more disability-friendly.
The Library will be closed from 18.00 Thursday 9 August and will re-open at
09.00 Monday 20 August. We can be contacted during the closure by email at
[log in to unmask] and over the telephone: 020 7862 8437 / 8438.
The Palaeography Room - the Special Collections Reading Room - will be
closed from 17h30 Saturday 4 August 2007 to 09h30 Monday 13 August 2007,
during relocation of services to the Small Hall, ground floor, North Block,
Senate House. During this time, material from Special Collections and the
Palaeography and Book Studies Collections can be consulted by prior
appointment. Please email requests to [log in to unmask]
not later than Thursday 2 August 2007. The Special Collections Reading
Room will be closed on Saturday 18 August and over the bank holiday weekend.
While every effort will be made to keep materials on open access during the
refurbishment, on occasion some will be temporarily re-shelved in the
stack. These will remain available on request.
We apologise in advance for any inconvenience or disruption the moves may
cause and we hope to keep disruption to a minimum.
Please check the website [www.shl.lon.ac.uk], newsletter and notices in the
Library for the latest information about further moves.
With best wishes
Senate House Library
