Hello fellow users,
I attempted to get FSL running on my Mac Powerbook today. I had a similar
problem to the person below. When I enter fsl in at the command line, I
get this message: "You need to source an FSL setup file - either fsl.sh or
fsl.csh in $FSLDIR/etc/fslconf !"
I am not able to find an answer to the problem on the web or on the FSL
archive.
I suspect it has something to do with the profile file. When I went to
complete step 5 (below), there was not an existing .bash profile. I
executed the commands below, but still cannot locate this file. Do you
intend for us to create a new .bash_profile? If so, what directory do you
want it in? I tried to add the FSLDIR info to the profile, but was not
successful.
In a running terminal type:
cd
touch .bash_profile
open -a TextEdit .bash_profile
This will bring up a TextEdit window
Select Make Plain Text from the Format menu if it is available (if only
Make Rich Text is there then do nothing as it is already in plain text
mode)
In the window type the following lines at the end of the document (or
better still, use copy and paste to do this):
FSLDIR=/usr/local/fsl
. ${FSLDIR}/etc/fslconf/fsl.sh
PATH=${FSLDIR}/bin:${PATH}
export FSLDIR PATH
export DISPLAY=localhost:0.0
Thanks in advance for your help,
Veronica

Subject: MAC OSX installation question
Content-Type: text/plain
Hello,
We are installing FSL 3.3 on Mac Os X 10.4.8. FSLVIEW installed
successfully
The .cshrc file contains the following:
setenv FSLDIR /usr/local/bin/fsl
source ${FSLDIR}/etc/fslconf/fsl.csh
setenv PATH ${FSLDIR}/bin:${PATH}
setenv DISPLAY localhost:0.0
The command echo $FSLDIR returns:
/usr/local/bin/fsl
When we enter fsl_gui we get:
You need to source an FSL setup file - either fsl.sh or fsl.csh in
$FSLDIR/etc/fslconf !
Any help is appreciated.
Thank you
