**** This is why others and I within the mental health 'survivors'(Wellness
and Recovery networks), disabled peoples', inclusion and independent living
movements have pro-actively continually campaigned ( If the ERYC will let me
and stop putting injunctions on me) against for years as a basic human
rights abuse issue for years.
This kind of behaviour and attitudes needs to come to an end and the
Government must take a lead on this, especially within the PM's Improving
Life Chances report and through the disability equality duty and legislative
framework around basic human rights (dignity and worth) and civil liberities
to 'freeourpeople' from this inhumane and degrading institutions and protect
our basic human rights to prvacy and family life which mant take for
granted, but few disabled people ever achieve in their lifecourse. Why is
this?
In my case this is why I am totally against being 'institutionalised', which
I still carry the emotional scars from my chidhood which are very painful
and hurt deep inside, but these authorities and those professionals in my
care seem to never want to listen and hear all my hurt and pain and some of
them show no empathy at all towards me. Why?
They all wonder why I will not go ( be forced) into any form of 'residential
care'!!!
As a child in care I have no control in all decisions making processes being
made on my behalf by professionals working within these oppressive public
bodies.
As a Professional disabled adult, who is now more informed I will not allow
these public bodies and professionals to disempower and abuse me anymore
without me putting up a fight for my basic human rights and civil liberities
to enable my needs and basic human right to independent living.
"NO to all institutions that rips the 'heart and soul' out of all human
beings who are forced to live in them."
