Hi Peter,
we have our test servers as well as our production servers running on VMware ESX.
Our production system contains 3 application servers in a load balanced setup, a file server, a database server and an additional webserver where we have material running the we include inour Blackboard environment. The test system is similar but has only 2 application servers and has less resources in CPU power and RAM.
Our production system is running since beginning of November 2006 without any specific or nasty problem. Our presentation about having the prodyction setup on VMware that we gave in Boston will be soon be available on the Blackboard connections site.
When you search the Bbadmin listserve archives for VMware you will find a thread in May or June this year and you'll see that there are more institutions that have their production system running on VMware as well.
Till now we haven't had any problems with support from Blackboard on the tickets we submitted.
Met vriendelijke groet,
Henk van Rijssen

Onderwerp: Running Blackboard under VMware
Although it looks from the documentation that Blackboard do not yet support running within virtualized environments like VMware (unless you know better) is anyone successfully doing this ?
Peter
