Research Studentship
Work, Interaction and Technology
King's College London
Applications are invited for an EPSRC CASE award with the Work, Interaction and Technology Research Group at the Department of Management, King's College London, in collaboration with Thales Research Technology.
Work, Interaction and Technology is a leading international research group that specialises in video-based studies of social interaction. A number of our projects are used to inform the design and development of advanced and ubiquitous technologies. We are currently undertaking studies in areas such as command and control, health care, news production, museums and galleries, markets, design and education. The studentship with Thales is concerned with the analysis of interaction around artefacts. An outcome of the research will be the design of novel systems to support distributed collaborative work, particularly advanced tabletop displays.
We are currently seeking applications for the research studentship to enable a successful applicant to undertake an MPhil/PhD full time over three years. The studentship will provide a maintenance grant from £17-20,000 per annum and home fees. The award will commence in 2007 and is tenable for up to three years.
Applications are welcome from those with either a background in the social or computer sciences and in particular from applicants who have an interest in and strong commitment to the fine-grained analysis of human conduct and interaction in naturally occurring environments. Please send a CV with accompanying letter that describes your interests in, and where relevant, experience, in undertaking research of this type. Applications should be sent by the 17th August 2007 to Professor Christian Heath and Dr Paul Luff ([log in to unmask], [log in to unmask])
