Project Officer
‘Concert Programmes as a Window onto our Cultural Heritage’
£16,480 pa 1-year fixed term contract
The Britten–Pears Library, in Aldeburgh, Suffolk, is a Designated collection
holding the archives of composer Benjamin Britten. In 2006 the Library
received funding from the Heritage Lottery Fund for an exciting project to
catalogue its extensive collection of concert programmes, develop a
performance database and initiate an outreach strategy.
We are now looking for a Project Officer to continue the project following
its successful first year. They will report to the archivist and will
catalogue the materials, populate the databases, oversee the digitisation
and attendant preservation programme (with volunteer help), mount the
exhibitions and create learning resources for schools.
This post would be suitable for a graduate seeking experience prior to
applying for an archive administration course. Familiarity with computer
applications in archives would be an advantage. The successful applicant
will have strong communication and time management skills and be able to
demonstrate an eye for detail. An interest in twentieth-century music and
performance is also desirable.
For more information about the Library visit our website www.brittenpears.org.
