The Clothworkers’ Company, one of the Great Twelve Livery Companies of the
City of London, is seeking to recruit an archivist on a three-year
contract, to replace the current incumbent who is moving to another
position.
The Company was founded in 1528 and its records are complete from the

records of the Company’s charitable activity.
Applications are invited from individuals with a recognized postgraduate
qualification in archives and recordkeeping and a broad range of post-
qualification experience.
Your duties will include: completion of the archive catalogue (using a
CALM database) and making it available via the Company’s website;
implementation of appropriate preservation procedures, including
repackaging of vulnerable records and management of conservation;
appraisal and disposition of non-current records; maintaining and
improving records management procedures; taking responsibility for other
heritage collections (including a small library and a major collection of
Plate) and handling enquiries and outreach.
You will need to demonstrate skill in palaeography (basic Latin would be
an advantage but is not essential), a high standard of computer literacy
and an active interest in history. The successful candidate will be
flexible, self-motivated, able to manage and prioritise their work
schedule and have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone keen to develop a wide range
of skills, working in very convivial surroundings. A competitive package
of benefits is offered.
To apply, please send a full CV, present salary details and a covering

Closing date for applications: 31st July 2007
Interviews: 15th August in the City of London
