Hello Everyone!

All the best,

Request Re: N. Belaiew
There is a contradiction in literature on his life after Revolution. According to information from a book “Creators of Science about Metal” (Fedorov, 1980) he died in 1920, May 26, after a business trip to metallurgical plants at Ukraine.
His papers on the mechanism of strengthening of Damascus steel were published in Russia in 1906 and 1911 and afterwards in The Journal of the Iron and Steel Institute in 1918 (“Damascene Steel”, Part I) and 1921 (“Damascene Steel”, Part II). He had planned to place in this Journal the further contribution, Part III, with analysis of specimens in the Wallace Collection (but I don’t know such a publication). Thus, he lived and worked then in England and seemingly died before finishing his paper Part III.
Sorry, I could not get information about N. Belaiew from the Institute of Iron and Steel. May be there are some other English sources about history of science and technique? If you can’t answer this question, may be you could forward this question to some of your English colleagues?
