Description:
Applications are sought for two Research Associates (Grade 6 or 7) within the Medical and Pharmaceutical Statistics Research Unit. The Unit is to transfer from the University of Reading to Lancaster University in October 2007, and the new posts will be based in Lancaster. The Director (Professor John Whitehead) and the Deputy Director (Professor Anne Whitehead) are building up a statistical research team to continue their collaborative work with the pharmaceutical industry and to develop new links with medical research institutes. The posts are offered for a three year period in the first instance. The appointees will work on one of the research areas of interest within the Unit. They will also become involved in professional development courses and consultancy associated with their expertise. By the end of the initial three year period, it is anticipated that these posts will continue on a self-financing basis.
Qualifications: Candidates should hold a PhD in statistics and/or have research experience in statistics relevant to clinical trials. Experience of teaching and programming skills using software such as SAS are desirable, but training on these aspects of the job can be provided.
Salary: Salaries will be is in the range £23,002 - £26,666 (Grade 6) or £28,289 - £32,796 (Grade 7).
Starting date: 1 October 2007 or as soon as possible thereafter.
