HERG has a long-standing and internationally recognised programme of policy-relevant and methodological research in health economics. To further expand and develop its programme of work, HERG is seeking to appoint another Research Fellow.
The aims of this new research post are primarily to design and undertake economic evaluations of health care programmes for a variety of interventions, for example, to reduce hospital borne infection and other infectious diseases, or to increase the uptake of healthy lifestyles. Evaluations will be undertaken as modelling exercises and alongside clinical trials. As part of this research it is also likely that some analysis of large datasets using regression analysis and other statistical methods will be needed.
Individuals with an ability to undertake modelling for economic evaluations are encouraged to apply as are people with skills in regression analysis who are interested in developing research in decision modelling.
Applicants should have a good first degree and either a relevant postgraduate qualification or equivalent experience. A PhD in an appropriate discipline is desirable but not essential.
The post provides excellent opportunities for undertaking research. The successful candidate will be actively encouraged to undertake high quality research and to publish it in top-ranked peer-reviewed journals. They will also be encouraged to present their work at academic/non-academic meetings and conferences, and to develop proposals for external research funding.
The initial appointment will be for 3 years. Salary range £21,050 to £31,840 (plus London Weighting of £2,166) depending on qualifications and experience.
