Hi Everyone, I have been asked to forward this request for information from
Patience
Seebohm [log in to unmask] to the Community Psychology List. I
have copied the attachment into this message below:

Exploratory study into the contribution of community development to mental
health promotion

Stage One Consultation

Thank you for agreeing to participate in this stage of the study. This
questionnaire can be answered on e-mail, or if you prefer, in a telephone
interview with me, Patience Seebohm, the project researcher. My contact
details, are: 01763 849816; 07773 652 413; [log in to unmask]

First, I will clarify who this questionnaire is for & what we mean by mental
health.

We want to hear from anyone involved in community development work or
community work. i.e. as a community development worker, community worker,
mental health survivor/ service user, carer or any other role which has
involved working with local people to create change.

It is concerned with every aspect of mental ill-health,

i.e. including prevention of ill-health/ promotion of well-being, common
mental health problems such as anxiety and depression, and people who have
used specialist mental health services. It is concerned with changing
attitudes, improving health, increasing the power and influence of people
who have used mental health services, and increasing the opportunities
available to them.

There is an information sheet available with further details about the
study.

Part One: About you

1. What is your role or job title?

If you are in a paid job:

2. Who is your employer?

3. Who funds your post?

4. Do you work alone or are you part of a team/ group?

5. If part of a team or group, what are the roles of your colleagues?

Part Two: About promoting mental health

6. Describe briefly how your work promotes mental health.

(e.g. enabling people who have used mental health services to access,
influence or deliver services, enabling people with mental health problems
and carers to take part in local activities, tackling fear and stigma around
mental health problems, supporting mental health groups and networks, etc.)

7. In your community work/community development role, are you involved
with any community groups or voluntary organisations which are

a) run by people with mental health difficulties?

b) run for people with mental health difficulties?

Please explain briefly (if you have not already done so in question 6
above).

8. Are there people with mental health difficulties in any of the
(non-mental health) groups and organisations that you work with?

Please explain briefly (if you have not already done so in question 6
above).

9. Does your work include contact with mental health workers?

(e.g. community psychiatric nurses/CPNs, support workers, occupational
therapists/OTs, social workers, commissioners and managers)

Please explain briefly (if you have not already done so in question 6
above).

10. What in your opinion is the most important way in which community
development workers / community workers / activists can promote mental
health?

(ie what MUST we cover in some depth to get the best out of this study?)

11. Do you have any project reports, evaluations, articles or description
of your work that you could contribute to the study (e-mail or post)?

12. If your area is selected for the in-depth interviews, would you be
willing to take part and help with identifying colleagues/ local people who
might be interested in taking part?

Your name:

Thank you very much for your help.
