Hi Sarah
I used it to *help* categorise documents in a document management
system.
We categorise our documents by such things as audience, the subject of
the document content (we use a controlled vocabulary), and what type or
format of document they are (which is where the eGMS helped).
These categories enable us to extract filtered document records into
different interfaces (i.e. only show external facing policies on an
external facing webpage about policies); we also use these categories in
indexes and pull-down lists in browse style interfaces. Additionally,
we use the title, keywords, and summary fields for free text searching.
So the eGMS was useful, but only after modifications and integration
with our other requirements.

Subject: eGMS metadata schema
We are currently upgrading our entire web presence and are looking to
implement the eGMS metadata schema as we have close ties with government
agencies.
I am sure that there must be repsorganisations on this list who have
implemented this or similar metadata schemas so I was just hoping that
you
might be willing to get in touch so that I can call to discuss your
experiences?
Thanks in advance for your help!
